For Hegarty, sustainability is an ongoing journey. It is a commitment we make every day through the many decisions we make as a business. Each decision, no matter how small, contributes towards an economy and society which values people, animals and the environment.

We recognise that Hegarty has a long way to go and faces new challenges every day, but we will continue working on our commitment to be a responsible fashion brand focused on designing and making products which maintain their quality and relevance over time.

We have a responsibility to ensure that we work with manufacturers and suppliers who share our values and treat their workers fairly and with respect. We have worked hard to build strong relationships with our factories and suppliers in London and across England, and we visit them regularly in order to maintain our confidence in their working practices and manufacturing quality.

By manufacturing in London, we are able to work closely with our suppliers, maintain greater oversight of quality and working conditions, and reduce transportation distances throughout the production process.

Being environmentally conscious is an important part of our ethos. All Hegarty orders are delivered in 100% recyclable cardboard boxes and tissue paper, all of which is made from 100% recycled paper and cardboard.

We also produce in small quantities to avoid unnecessary overproduction and excess inventory and dead stock. This approach allows us to manufacture more responsibly while maintaining the quality and attention to detail that defines every Hegarty piece.

Sustainability starts with making conscious decisions to create products that last a long time, both in their craftsmanship and design. We are not interested in creating products that promote short-lived trends. We believe the most sustainable garment is one that is worn and enjoyed for many years. By focusing on quality materials, skilled craftsmanship and timeless design, we aim to create pieces that remain relevant long after seasonal trends have passed.

For every Hegarty piece we make, we carefully consider the aesthetic, quality, functionality and sustainability attributes of the materials we source, ensuring they have a traceable line of sustainability. We continue to build a network of suppliers that supports our goal of sourcing and developing environmentally preferred materials.

We do not believe sustainability is achieved through a single initiative or certification. It is the result of continuous improvements in the way we design, source, manufacture and deliver our products. As Hegarty grows, we remain committed to making thoughtful decisions that support both people and the environment.

The Hegarty Team
